Rubik Mosaic Generator — Turn Photos into Rubik's Cube Wall Art

Rubik Mosaic Generator is a free, browser-based tool that converts any photograph into a printable mosaic pattern built from real 3×3 Rubik's Cubes. Upload an image, pick how many cubes wide the mosaic should be, and the generator quantises every pixel to the six official cube-sticker colours (white, yellow, red, orange, blue and green) using perceptual CIEDE2000 colour matching and optional Floyd–Steinberg dithering — the same technique used to make six-colour palettes look like they contain shades of pink, brown, teal and grey when you step back from the wall.

How it works

Upload a photo. Portraits, logos, pets, landscapes — anything with clear contrast works best. Your image never leaves your browser.
Choose a size. Pick the mosaic width in cubes. A 25×25 mosaic uses 625 cubes; a 50×50 uses 2,500. Every cube contributes nine coloured stickers, so a 25×25 mosaic gives you 5,625 "pixels".
Generate. The tool resizes with a Lanczos filter, converts pixels into CIE L*a*b* space, matches each one to the nearest cube colour, and optionally spreads rounding error into neighbouring pixels with Floyd–Steinberg dithering.
Solve. For every 3×3 tile the built-in solver runs a depth-limited search over U/D/L/R/F/B face turns and returns the shortest sequence that lands the required stickers on the front face.
Print & build. Export a cube-by-cube PDF build sheet with sticker layouts and move sequences, then assemble the physical mosaic on a wall or frame.

How many cubes do I need?

Do I need to solve the cubes?
