Privacy Policy

    This policy explains, in plain language, what Rubik Mosaic Generator does and does not do with your data. We built the tool as a client-side utility specifically to avoid the data-handling complications that come with uploading personal photographs to a server. Everything below flows from that single design decision.

    Who this policy applies to

    This policy covers trend2print.com, the Rubik Mosaic Generator web application at that domain, and any subpages served from it (the guide, gallery, buying guide, FAQ, about, contact, and legal pages). It does not cover external websites we link to, including our sister project Cube Solver at cubesolver.trend2print.com, which publishes its own privacy notice. When you follow a link off this site, the destination's privacy practices apply, not ours.

    Data we intentionally do not collect

    Because Rubik Mosaic Generator is a single-page application that runs entirely in your browser, we do not — by design — collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

    If a future feature genuinely requires any of these, we will update this policy first and ask for consent at the point of collection.

    Images you upload

    Rubik Mosaic Generator processes uploaded images entirely in your browser using the HTML Canvas API. We do not upload your images to a server, we do not store them, and we do not share them with third parties. Closing or refreshing the page removes the image from memory.

    Concretely: when you drop a photo into the upload zone, the browser reads it into a Blob, decodes it into an HTMLImageElement, draws it onto an off-screen <canvas>, and runs the resizing, colour-matching, and dithering pipeline on those pixels. The resulting mosaic, PDF, and TXT files are generated locally and offered as browser downloads. No network request in any of those steps carries the image data. You can verify this yourself by opening your browser's DevTools Network panel while generating a mosaic — you will see requests for the app's JavaScript, CSS, and fonts, but no upload of your photo.

    Cookies and local storage

    The site uses browser local storage only for functional purposes such as remembering UI preferences. It does not use cookies to track you across other websites.

    Specific keys we may write to localStorage include the state of the "High fidelity" dithering toggle and the last-used cubes-wide slider value, so returning visitors don't have to re-configure the tool on every session. You can clear these at any time from your browser's site-data settings — doing so simply resets the tool to its defaults.

    Analytics

    We use privacy-respecting, aggregated analytics provided by our hosting platform to count page views, referrers, country (not city), and device type. The data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally.

    We use this data for exactly two things: understanding which pages are actually useful (so we can invest editing time where it matters), and noticing broken referrers when a link from an external tutorial starts sending 404 traffic. We do not build behavioural profiles, we do not run A/B experiments on visitors, and we do not sell analytics data.

    Google AdSense

    This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info.

    You have two independent levers over ad personalisation: opt out of personalised ads globally via your Google Ad Center preferences (ads will still appear, but based on page topic rather than browsing history), or opt out of third-party vendor cookies via aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU). We do not receive personally identifiable data from AdSense — only aggregate revenue and click-through-rate reports.

    Children's privacy

    Rubik Mosaic Generator is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we do not collect account-level data at all, we have no children-specific data to purge; a child using the tool has the same privacy footprint as an adult — effectively none from our side. Teachers and parents supervising classroom use should still review our Terms of Service alongside this policy.

    International visitors and data transfers

    The site is hosted on a global CDN, which means the JavaScript, CSS, images, and HTML are served from the edge location nearest to you. No personal data is transferred as part of that delivery — the only thing that crosses borders is your request for our static assets and our response with those static assets.

    GDPR (EU / UK / EEA visitors)

    Under the General Data Protection Regulation and the UK GDPR, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection with respect to personal data a controller holds about you. Rubik Mosaic Generator is not a data controller for any personally identifiable data — we don't hold any — so there is nothing to access, rectify, or erase on our side. If you have concerns about advertising cookies set by Google in the EU/EEA, you can exercise your GDPR rights directly against Google as the data controller for those cookies via policies.google.com/privacy.

    CCPA (California residents)

    Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents have the right to know what personal information a business collects about them, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its sale. We do not collect personal information as defined by the CCPA, we do not sell information, and we have no consumer profile to disclose or delete.

    Data breach notification

    Because we do not hold personal data, there is no traditional "data breach" scenario that would affect users. If our site itself is compromised in a way that could put visitors at risk — for example a malicious script injection into our published bundle — we will post a notice at the top of this policy and, if possible, on the homepage, within 72 hours of discovering the incident.

    Your rights

    Because we do not collect personal data or account information, there is no personal profile to access, correct, or delete. If you have questions about this policy, please email us via the contact page.

    Changes

    We may update this policy to reflect changes in the service or applicable law. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.

    For material changes that expand what data we collect (currently: none), we will additionally show a one-time banner on the homepage explaining the change and linking to this policy so you can review it before continuing to use the tool.
